Harms Florist will soon be moving in to the Oberlander building located at the intersection of McClure and University streets in Peoria.
I spent several years living on the second floor of the Oberlander building and remember it fondly. The apartments have high ceilings, tall windows, fireplaces and very thick walls.
There was a furniture store in the building at one time. I want to say it was Underwoods, and that they lived on the upper floor. The father of a friend of mine went to the school next door and I seem to recall him saying it was originally a grocery store.
In 1968, Underwood Furniture Galleries is listed as occupying the building at 2417 N. University. I will see if I can find anything to support a grocery store being there.

Well, I am GLAD to see a local business staying in central Peoria. Kudos to Harm's florist.
What was originally in that building? Was there a furniture store there?

I wonder why they are moving from the beautiful house they are in currently!
