Jim Kightlinger Antiques

The first time we stopped at Jim Kightlinger Antiques, 8320 N. Jackson Street in Edwards, was a couple of years ago.
We had a fun time poking around looking at antiques and collectibles, and we made our first purchase together for our soon-to-be-a-reality home bar: a bear's head bottle opener.

Recently we stopped in again, going through the side building first, where we saw lots of neat signs and trinkets.
We then made our way inside the house and checked out the couple of rooms there, where I found another fun item to add to my collection.
The shop is right across from Ludy's and the old Edwards bar next door, so the next time you're out that way, pop on over.

While the mailing address may be Edwards, IL -- Kightlinger's, Ludy's and the Gilles Tap are in Kickapoo, not Edwards. Edwards is down on Route 8 near Wildlife Prairie State Park. Have you been to Wildlife PSP and the new restaurant, Prairie Grill?

I enjoy this blog -- keep up the good work!

I saw that Ludy's shows an Edwards address too when I was writing the entry, but I've always thought of that whole area as Kickapoo ;-)
We were at Wildlife Prairie Park on Father's Day for the brunch, but I didn't notice the Prairie Grill, maybe due to the crowds. They didn't take over the brunch area, did they?

This is a great shop!!! You have to stop in during the Holiday Season - he has 35,000 ornaments in every color, size and shape. What an incredible selection. The OPEN HOUSE is FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30th and they have wine, cheese ect. The shop is like walking into a christmas tree with trees surrounding you on all sides and above on the ceiling. What a treasure of a shop!!!!

I drove from Springfield to visit their antique shop and they were closed during business hours??? Frustrating.

Sorry sewforlove, but sometimes funerals take precident over shop hours. Kightlinger Antiques is open tuesday - Sunday until 6pm. Usually it is open on Monday also. You can reach him on his cell when traveling to the area 309 363 9906. This shop is one of the most unforgetable and one of a kind. You will find a treasure everytime you go. Mr. Kightlinger a very personable person.

Well Ethel - Mr Kightlinger would never be rude unless you insulted him. He runs a business that is very unique and offers items for every price range. If you pushed your agenda at his shop or insulted his reasonable prices then maybe WalMart is your type of unique store. Kightlinger is worth the drive even from Florida!!

So are you insulting people who shop at Wal-Mart? I'm insulted.

Sorry Lindsay, but Kightlinger is a great little secret! He has wonderful items at very resonable prices. Supporting small local business keep the money in the Peoria economy, but supporting large box stores support other states economies. We need to support the small local business owners.

This weekend we stopped in the shop and it takes your breath away. It is full of beautifully decorated Christmas trees with everything imaginable. We spent several hours selecting a basket full of ornaments and tree picks. There is nothing like this shop anywhere in Illinois. Ten lady's even drove down from Naperville to shop on Saturday, beacause they heard from a friend how spectacular it was!!!

This store continues to be amazing. Jim is a great person and knows what true customer service is about. We arrived to pick up a piece that he held for us and since he was unable to be at the store at that time, he went to the trouble of bringing it to us. I will most definitely be heading back there as much as possible. Amazing things at great prices.
