Sunnyland Cinemas

It seems like we rarely go out to the movies anymore. But when we do, we usually head to our local theater, Sunnyland Cinemas.
Located in the Sunnyland Plaza in Washington, this Carmike Cinemas property has several screens showing new features.
Tickets are $7 (children watch for $6, seniors for $5.75) and matinee tickets are a discounted price.
A few of weeks ago we stopped in with a few movies in mind and ended up seeing The Happening. Like many Peoria area bloggers, we were not impressed.
Next on our list is the new Indiana Jones flick, and I would like to see Sex and the City and Hancock.
The theater is clean and nice, the manager is a friendly chap and probably one of StfRon's favorites is the shakers of cheese topping you can put on your popcorn.
Tuesday's are BYOB, bring your own bucket, and they will fill it with popcorn, which can work out to be quite a bargain.
I've got my rainy day plans all set for the summer movie season!

I think Sunnyland Cinemas are nice, too, but in Washington they have a reputation as being "rough" and some parents won't let their kids go there. So silly. It really is a nice theatre, well managed, and safe.

I haven't been to the Sunnyland cinemas in quite some time. I've become a picture quality snob and can't get enough of the digital projectors at Rave.

"The Happening" was BAD. "The Happening" was BAD. I had to say it twice to get my point across. I can't remember the last time I heard that many people in a theater same the same thing almost all at once, "Is that it?". When was the last time you went to a movie that ran all of 1 hour and 24 minutes not including previews? "The Happening" was BAD.

I really don't remember the last time I've ever felt the need to deter people from seeing a movie in the theater as much as I did after seeing The Happening.
You're right. It was bad.

The hubby is a technical snob. Have to have excellent pic quality...have to have excellent surround sound...even at home. But we don't mind hitting the locally owned theaters...strange isn't it? Now I will be honest, if it's a action-packed movie....he does prefer to go to the newer cinemas....

I can remember going to Sunnyland and watching "HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS". Oh that's been a few years ago...tehehe

Oh and keep in mind that Sunnyland DOES have digital projections. Every once in a blue moon they will receive a 35mm print of a top-grossing indepedent film. They have the SAME projectors as the rave, at a much cheaper price.
